Many Orlando residents suffer from a chronic runny nose, postnasal drip, facial pain, headaches, persistent stuffiness, pressure over the forehead and face. Without realizing there is an underlying problem causing these symptoms nasal polyps.

Anyone can be affected by nasal polyps. In fact, they are very common, affecting about 30 percent of Americans. These soft, noncancerous growths, typically in the shape of a grape or a teardrop, are found in the lining of the sinuses or nasal passages.

Do you have nasal polyps?  Here are a few common symptoms:

Have a difficult time breathing through the nose

Headaches and persistent stuffiness

Constant runny nose

Postnasal drip

Facial pain or pressure

Chronic sinus infections

Little to no sense of smell

Loss of sense of taste

Sleep apnea and snoring

What causes nasal polyps?

“Scientists don’t yet fully understand what causes nasal polyps, why some people develop long-term inflammation, or why irritation and swelling (inflammation) triggers polyps to form in some people and not in others. The swelling occurs in the fluid-producing lining (mucous membrane) of your nose and sinuses.” Mayo Clinic

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the family at Orlando Ears, Nose & Throat encourages everyone to join us in learning more about breast cancer and support those who are suffering with the disease.

Though we have made great progress in early detection, cancer treatment and finding a cure, we still have a long way to go.
