According to several studies,  allergies have a huge impact on a person’s quality of life. And not just those listed above, they can also affect your ability to concentrate, have a negative impact on your sleep, even your production level, and ability to take part in day to day activities.

Make This Year The Year You Win The War Against Allergies

Stay ahead of the symptoms

While allergy treatments vary from person to person, taking medication before symptoms start can stop your body from releasing chemicals and histamines that trigger symptoms. It is important to consult with a physician to ensure you are taking the appropriate medication that works for you.

When traveling in the car or at home, keep the windows closed

While it may still be cool enough in the morning and at night to open the windows, it’s just inviting unwanted pollen inside, exasperate the problem. The air conditioner is great at filtering out pollen.

Choose the right time to go outside

There are days and times when the pollen count is higher than others, which will make symptoms even worse. Late afternoon in Central Florida is typically when the pollen count is the lowest, early morning tends to be the highest.

Take precautions

When going outside, make sure you take precautions by covering areas pollen can enter the body. If you are doing any yard work, wear a bandana over your nose and mouth, protect your eyes with sunglasses, and wear a hat to prevent pollen from attaching to your hair and hitching a ride inside.

Wash away the pollen

If you spend any time outdoors, there is no way to avoid pollen attaching itself to your clothes, hair, and body. Once inside, it can keep your system going strong. To avoid this, the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology recommends, changing your clothes when you get home, taking a shower, and washing your hair, this can discourage the spread of pollen.
