Children, especially teenagers, often play games of chance in order to impress one another and to achieve various physical sensations. Some games can be deadly, though, especially when they have to do with the throat. Parents and guardians oftentimes don’t even know about such games until a child in their community is seriously injured or killed.

The Choking Game is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. It involves cutting off oxygen to the brain in order to faint or achieve a brief euphoria. Played alone or in groups, the obvious trouble with this game is, if it goes too far, there’s no going back.

Cinnamon Challenge is a relatively recent development. The goal of the game is to swallow a tablespoon of cinnamon without anything to drink. The spice quickly and effectively dries out the mouth and throat so that it’s nearly an impossible task. Most people who attempt this sneeze and cough out the cinnamon, some vomit, others are sent to the emergency room due to inhalation of the spice into their lungs.

Chubby Bunny is an innocent-enough sounding game that you may have even played as a child. The game involves stuffing a large amount of marshmallows into a person’s mouth until he or she can’t say “chubby bunny” anymore. The trouble with this game is that the marshmallows can slip down the throat, blocking the airway and causing suffocation. Oftentimes this game just turns into spitting out a lot of half-chewed marshmallows, but it’s probably best not to risk it.
